Marc Miralta has been living in New York for more than six years where he started developing the idea of forming a contemporary jazz group that would introduce elements of flamenco music. That was how, some years ago, and together with the pianist George Colligan, they started playing a compás every week in different clubs in New York. From then on, the group has combined musicians from both sides of the Atlantic.
The result is music of great freshness that mixes the harmonic richness and creative freedom of jazz with the strength and depth of flamenco.
The repertoire is basically comprised of original compositions and arrangements of jazz standars (Parker, Monk...) with flamenco rhythms (Bulerías, Seguiriyas, Tanguillos,...), created by the group themselves.
The great knowledge that the members of the Quintet have of these two styles, ensures music that is impressive in its strength and unique in its originality.
