Pianist born in Carmelo, Uruguay, in 1971. Learns music by him self and startsperforming at the age of 14 as a rock keabordist in his home town.
When he is 20 years old, starts formal musical training with a classical pianoteacher; Pablo Rilla (Montevideo).
In 1994, granted by Berklee College of Music, moves to Boston and receiveslectures from Hal Crook, Ray Santisi, Joanne Brakeen, Ed Bender, Charlie Banacosand Alon Yavnai till 1996.
During his stay in the USA, his work as a pianist went from, backing up in big bands,to playing in latin Jazz or fusion groups.
In 1997, returns to his country and works with great artists like, Nicolas Reinoso,Osvaldo Fatorusso, Hector Bingert, Juan Cruz de Urquiza, Facundo Bergali and Chico Novarro among others. From there, he tours Argentina, Brasil and Europe, playing at important Jazz Festivals (Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz a Vienne, Joan Les Pins Jazz Festival) with the Meier Group. This band cuts three records having Bill Evans as a special guest.
In 1999, moves to Barcelona, place were he lives at this moment.Since then, he has played and/or recorded with Perico Sambeat, Mike Mossman, Javier Limón, Luz Casal, Andrés Calamaro, Luis Salinas, Rosa Passos, Victoria Abril,Gustavo Bergalli, Horacio Fumero, Antonio Serrano, Raynald Colom, Marc Ayza,John Nugent, Terrassa Big Band, Mayte Martín, Miguel Poveda, Amelita Baltar.
He´s played at festivals in Switzerland, France, Italy, Malta, Greece, Turkey,Sweden, Denmark, Marruecos, Portugal, Brasil, Argentina, Uruguay and of course Spain.With his band “Jose Reinoso & Repique” (Southamerican Jazz), he receives the prize “Best Jazz group 2002” from the: Jazz and Modern Music Musician`s Association of Catalonia. This prize will take them to the Montreaux Jazz Festival.At this moment, he co-leads proyect ,“Southamerican Jazz”, together with the Spanish harmonica player Antonio Serrano (member of Paco de Lucia’s Group).Together, they have recorded a CD “El Corazon al Sur” for the label New Mood Jazz.
In 2004 he recorded “CANDOMBE IN FLUENCIADO”. This album is Jose Reinoso’s debut as a leader, having important artists as guests such as Luis Salinas, Perico Sambeat (played and recorded with Brad Mehldau), Raynald Colom and Antonio
Serrano (member of Paco De Lucia Group 2005). On this recording we can notice Jose´s knowledge of latin rhythms (specially the ones from Uruguay and Brasil)and also a mature mix of Tango and Jazz. On this CD we can confirm why he is
considered the most versatil pianist resident in Spain.
